MobileSyrup’s Rob managed to get his lucky hands on Telus’ HTC Touch Diamond. Needless to say, he loves the Windows Mobile smartphone, even though he would prefer the European version of the device with shapes like a diamond on the back. However, I don’t see that as a big minus, if that’s a minus at all.

Anyway, MobileSyrup’s 7-minute long video starts now. Enjoy it. And don’t forget, you can grab the HTC Touch Diamond from Telus from CA$149.99 with a three-year contract, CA$349.99 on a 2-year contract, or for CA$399.99 on a 1-year contract. Finally, for those that don’t like binding themselves with any kinds of agreements, the device is available for CA$449.99 sans any contracts signed… And now the video.

There’s no doubt HTC Touch Diamond and Samsung i900 Omnia are among the top iPhone competitors. Both devices run the latest version of Windows Mobile (6.1) and both of them have their good and bad sides.

The HTC Diamond may have a better resolution, while Omnia is more solidly built. Likewise, the Diamond’s touch-sensitive scroll wheel is arguably better than Omnia’s optical joystick… I’ll stop here. If you’re interested to buy any of the two devices, you should read the full review. Every single aspect is compared — including user interfaces (TouchWiz vs TouchFLO 3D), design and construction, hardware and software controls, file management, multimedia, camera performance, pre-installed software, GPS, and more.

The article is ended with a draw. At the end, it’s the personal preferences that will make you choose one device over the other. Here’s the link to the full review.

Don’t get us wrong, the TouchFLO 3D interface is a snazzy twist on HTC’s Windows Mobile UI overlay, but with performance on HTC Touch Diamond review units leaving room for improvement, it’s good to see HTC is on a more proactive tack.

The updated TouchFLO 3D is supposed to bring a decent speed boost and improve responsiveness across the board. Good news for HTC Touch Diamond hopefuls the world over - especially those of us in the US waiting for HTC to include GSM 850Mhz and UMTS/HSDPA 850/1900Mhz frequency bands in the HTC Touch Diamond.

Everyone’s been looking for the next big thing to talk about — after the much awaited iPhone, that is. And what is said to match the iPhone, if not top,in terms of press and hype is no less than the Google phone, which up to now, after much speculation and rumors, has not been confirmed.

The newest rumor with regards to Google dabbling into the mobile phone manufacturing industry, is that according to an analyst from UBS, over 50,000 HTC handsets will be equipped with Google OS. The first batch of which will not be for commercial use but for “developers to demonstrate software capabilities,” as Mobile-Review writes.

Nobody knows for sure if Google will still push through with the G-Phone or will just supply the operating systems for mobile phones from different mobile phone manufacturers as the same source stated that HTC will not be Google’s exclusive partner for their OS devices. The first commercial shipments are said to be available commercially next year at the earliest.
